Sandra Allen is the author of A Kind of Mirraculas Paradise: A True Story About Schizophrenia. A graduate of the University of Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program (’12), she was formerly a features editor for BuzzFeed, and ran the online literary quarterly Wag’s Revue. Her reported features and essays have been published by (or are forthcoming from) BuzzFeed News, Pop-Up Magazine, Pacific Standard, and more, and been named Notable Selections by Best American Essays and Best American Science and Nature Writing. She was the recipient of a 2017 UC Berkeley-11th Hour Food and Farming Journalism Fellowship. Her work focuses on the past, present and future of mental health care. More at www.sandraeallen.com
