Lake Villain is a multi-disciplinary artist living in Iowa City, and has been creating music in bands and under various solo pseudonyms for the past two decades. His current project is the culmination of a lifetime of passion for music and artistic discovery. It takes the form of “electronic listening music,” composed of synthetically sculpted waveforms, elemental rhythms, and organic field recordings. Like his other endeavors, it is at times a lamentation of the destructive force of humankind, other times a celebration of the resiliency of nature and the endless mystery of the Cosmos. It is a search for something alien, and a deep-space mirror to aid in seeing ourselves properly, in humility; as Carl Sagan put it, “on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.”
