A showcase of transnational nonfiction podcasts and audio literature.
This event will be a discussion and feature of nonfiction podcasts and audio literature, including examples of the genre made by both English-speaking writers from the University of Iowa and French-Speaking writers from the University of Paris 8. In this series of podcasts, published by Frictions Media through a collaboration between two MFA programs, writers responded to the theme of “belonging” by recording work about topics like disability, queerness, accents, and modes of welcome.
The event will feature a discussion of the craft of “writing for the ear,” strategies for successful podcast production, and a consideration of what it means to write for a global audience. The participants will play 2-3 minute clips from their published podcasts throughout the group discussion.
