Peanut Ricky is the solo project of long time local musician Jo Adams. They are joined by an ever alternating cast of backing musicians and long time member Phil Maul a local synth and noise artist. Peanut Ricky & The Fiends can be described as Nick Cave and PJ Harvey’s secret love child. Raised in a cement basement room with only a small TV playing VHS copies of David Lynch films, and a painting of the Virgin Mary. Their influences span from Industrial Noise to Country music with a heavy presence of Jo’s love for Soul and R&B. Though the instrumentation is very minimal they still manage to create complex rhythm and a strong dynamic tension. Somewhere between a nightmare and a wet dream Peanut Ricky is raw emotion, and it’s ugly. A self described “Cowboy killer with a kitchen knife.” Peanut Ricky is indeed a bad bad man, and we are here for it.
