Lidia Yuknavitch is the author of the bestselling novels The Book of Joan and The Small Backs of Children, as well as the anti-memoir The Chronology of Water. Her TED Talk on the Beauty of Being a Misfit, with over 2 million views, now has a corresponding book, The Misfit’s Manifesto. She is a recipient of three Oregon Book Awards and a Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award. Her fiction, nonfiction, and hybrid writing have been featured and reviewed in The New York Times Review of Books, The Boston Globe, The San Francisco Chronicle, The LA Times, BOMB, Buzzfeed, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. She founded the workshop series Corporeal Writing in Portland, Oregon, where she lives with her filmmaker husband Andy Mingo and their Renaissance man son, Miles. She currently has a book of short stories, This is Not a Flag, as well as a novel, Thrust, forthcoming from Riverhead Books. She is a very good swimmer.
